Haniji are traveling entertainers for hire, who entertain their guests with cuddling, dancing, storytelling, martial arts, poetry, song, music, polite conversation, and sometimes even ESP. Their traditions are derived from an ancient fertility cult from the Adett Alps, where they would seduce males into becoming priests. (Only men could become priests, because scripture states that they are necessary to "impregnate" their goddess with luck, fortune and fertility through their prayers.) Over time, as the sect grew larger (in numbers), their traditions became a part of mainstream culture, where it evolved into a diverse art form, soaring in popularity.

Conservative feminist groups say that it promotes sexism and objectifies women (this argument flared up like a forest fire after the tragic murder of a very unfortunate Haniji), despite the fact that sexism decreased dramatically after the Haniji's rise in popularity, and any chauvanists who do end up harassing one would end up pile-driven and left to be, without a refund. Male Haniji do exist, but they are vastly outnumbered by a 10 to 1 ratio against their female counterparts.

There are several schools throughout the country that train Haniji in their trademark antics, and those who are especially gifted and successful become flabulously wealthy, and worshipped as demigods, even!
